Acne Skin Care
If you have acne, you are not alone. Millions of other people are suffering from acne right now.
Almost everyone has some form of it at some time in their life. It’s very important that if you have acne or
if you are prone to breakouts, you learn how to take care of your skin properly. Good acne skin care will
keep you from terrible breakouts.
The most important steps in treating and clearing up acne are how to care for your skin, when to wash it and how
to wash it properly. You also need to be careful not to overdo it with products and chemicals. You need to create a
healthy acne skin care regimen that you can stick with. It will soon become habit for you and you will have cleaner
and healthier skin.
Below we will discuss some basic skin care that you should practice in addition to your acne treatment plan.
Acne medications and treatments should be applied after you have cleansed your face properly. Always follow the
instructions carefully on any medications.
Washing Your Skin
If you have acne, you know that it is important that you keep your skin clean. But what do you know about washing your
acne prone skin? Believe it or not, many people with acne wash too hard or too often. You should wash gently in the
morning with a mild cleanser. Be sure you do not scrub too hard.
You should wash again in the evening and no more unless you participate in heavy exercise or something to get your face
particularly dirty. Scrubbing your face too hard does not remove acne and for some people, can even make it worse since
it irritates the skin. Harsh soaps will have the same problem.
You can use a cleanser that is part of your acne care treatment or you can use an over the counter wash designed for acne
prone skin. If you have severe acne or very sensitive skin, you might talk to your doctor about what is a good face wash
for you to use.
Shaving and Touching Your Skin
If you have acne, you should try not to touch or handle your skin when it’s not necessary. You should wash your hands
before touching your face and never pick or scrub at it or pop your pimples. Not only will this lead to scarring but it
will also infect the blemish and make it worse.
For males, shaving may be another obstacle to overcome when it comes to acne skin care. Basically, you just have to be
more careful. Some men find that using an electric razor helps and others use sharp safety razors. Be sure to shave
carefully over a blemish to keep from nicking it.
